A Few Odds and Ends

This is a very small self drilling screw which embeded itself into our rear left tire!  The mechanical pencil point is to provide scale.  I was able to plug the hole.  What is sad is that offended tire was brand new!  I was surprised that this 1/2 inch screw could penetrate past the heavy weather tire tread.  Our poor Foster (the name of our Honda Fit).  So far our dependable little car has been backed into a pole and now screwed, literally!  Hopefully this is the extent of our mishaps.  I am  knocking on wood!

This next entry is a poem I wrote as my talent for my youngest daughter's Family Christmas Event.  Alice goes all out at these events!  She prints programs, has a conductor and insures all participating, etc.  Anyway, I thought you might enjoy my attempt with Rhyme and Reason-Ha, Ha, Ha.  Or should I have said, Ho, Ho, Ho!

Whoo

By Eric Niven

Once long ago,

When things were more slow,

An owl seeking shelter, found space.

Inside of a stall,

He found it in all,

A home, a welcoming place.

Sharing space with a crew,

Of animals new,

He greeted a welcoming, “WHOO.”

Some people came in,

Calming animal din,

A woman, whose birth time was due.

The owl looked upon,

The woman so strong,

As she welcomed her first born son.

The animals and owl

Heard the first ever howl,

From the babe, a life just begun.

All the young owl could say,

As the new baby lay,

In the manger, was his usual, “WHOO?”

More people came through,

And reverent they grew,

At the babe who they saw was so new.

The owl simply said,

Over the roughly hewn bed,

Was his questioning and usual, “WHOO?”

Then the woman hearing, knew,

For she heard the owl too,

She smiled and said, “This is true.”

This is not just my son,

He is God’s chosen one,

And He will give up his life for you.”

The owl one more time,

Simply repeated his line,

And offered his questioning, “WHOO?”

She smiled at the bird,

And softly was heard,

Saying, “This babe is the hope of us all,

For this he came here,

To fight sin and fear,

And to save from the effects of the fall.”

He will save all from sin,

Who inviteth him in,

And give them the faith through his love,

His love is the key,

His help we will see,

To return to our Father above.”

The owl nodded his head,

At what the mother just said

Wishing his Whoo was something to sing,

The woman looked down,

On her babe sleeping sound

Saying, “He is Jesus, our Savior and King.”
