This is our zone, Wilmette Zone (English), at the Sunrise Senior Living of Lincoln Park. This facility caters to a more affluent clientele as you can tell from the reception area where this picture was taken. Cathi and I secured a cheap Santa hat for all the missionaries, and a very cheap Santa Suit. We had to find a facility that was centrally located and would allow us to perform. We had made arrangements to also take our Wilmette Zone {Spanish), to a Hispanic facility but two days before we were scheduled to perform, it was cancelled because of an outbreak of COVID. Sad days Elders and Hermanas. Hopefully next year!
At this facility, we sang, performed and mingled, with Santa giving away candy canes and what we call Pocket Jesus'. I have attached a picture of him for your understanding. I put him on top of my Carmex Jar for scale. The writing says, "Jesus Loves You. I described what we do with these in a previous entry, where he was prominently displayed on our Christmas tree.
We started on the 2nd floor and then moved the 3rd. I have attached the 2nd floor's pictures/videos first and then moved on the 3rd floor. Again, sorry for the short videos but that is all my phone would allow. This was our second service project which Cathi and I have organized in as many months. We got permission from our Mission President, President Wood to do these monthly. Interestingly, in our previous mission in Sacramento, the Elders/Sisters had a weekly assignment to do service. Here, they do not, but know the young missionaries enjoy the change in venue and activity in these service projects. So far, they have loved these events and so we will continue!
