Our Creaking Floor

 

This is a short video of the sound of our creaking floor!  This is a very old but revamped building, no doubt built shortly following the Chicago fire when brick construction became the norm.  We have became mostly acclimated to the sound but Cathi has trouble with the creak waking her up.  We found a way to limit the creak but it requires talcum powder and the only powder we can find is corn starch not talcum.  We can get some from Amazon but it is expensive and we don't even know if the "How to" is valid.  The method requires sweeping the talc so that it gets between the floor boards.  Then pounding of the treated floor to insure the powder gets down in.  Miraculously the YouTuber.  We will have to see as our whole floor creaks not just a few sections.
